Beginning in 2027, Starlab will maintain a permanent human presence in low Earth orbit, operated by Voyager Space and Airbus.
Starlab, a commercial space station designed to support a human presence in low Earth orbit and operated by Voyager Space and Airbus, is one step closer to reality.
During the European Space Agency (ESA) summit in Seville, Spain, the two companies, along with ESA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Starlab space station. The agreement stipulates that the activities of the future station will pay special attention to the development of science and technology, as well as alternative options for location in low Earth orbit: we are talking about the International Space Station (ISS).
However, the ISS is scheduled to be decommissioned in 2030 and completely deorbited in 2031. Once the ISS is retired, it is expected that EKA and NASA will also increasingly pursue commercial collaboration options.
