It is best to teach writing numbers using notebooks on a printed basis, because the cells are lined larger – the cells are 7×7 mm, which is one and a half times larger than in a regular one. Preparatory work begins with tracing the outlined drawings, and then coloring them. After this, a large number of exercises are performed on tracing lines, borders, and sample notes. After such preparation, independent writing of numbers is performed.
An important point is teaching children to hold a pencil and pen correctly. Not only a demonstration is needed, but also constant monitoring of the writing of numbers at first. Before each task, a demonstration is needed of how they should do it – where to start, in what direction to move, whether or not to lift the pencil off the paper when tracing the numbers. In this case, the teacher demonstrates the movement on the board, and then the children repeat the explanation, picking up a pencil and showing in the air the direction of the movements that need to be performed.
Comparison of numbers is related to comparison of objects. Comparison is performed according to the following features: thin, thick, long, short, more, less, the same, left, right, above, below, in front of, behind, between, next to.
