In the Novosibirsk region, snow barriers were installed throughout the hunting grounds of the Kuibyshevsky district to stop the mass migration of roe deer. Otherwise, wild animals may end up in Kuibyshev. Metal fences will appear on the roads of Udmurtia to protect against wild animals. The decision to install them was made due to the increasing number of cases of forest dwellers entering the roadway.
In Kuibyshev, in urban conditions, animals fall under the wheels of cars, get stuck in fences or suffer from stray dogs. This is how it happened in Omsk, where in recent months there has been a real invasion of roe deer. The animals that attacked the city had to be caught with nets and taken back to their natural habitat.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Novosibirsk region, the barriers were covered with hay so that the roe deer had enough food for the migration period. Experts explain that due to temperature changes in the usual habitats of animals, crust has formed. Therefore, it is difficult for them to move and get food. Mass appearance of roe deer in cities and towns was observed in the Omsk region and several regions of the Urals.
Experts emphasized that all conditions for a comfortable stay have been created for the animals. At the same time, the roe deer will not be able to jump over the snow barriers and get closer to Kuibyshev. Hay was scattered not only in the barriers, but also throughout the forest so that the animals had enough food. Within two to three weeks, game wardens will begin to monitor the roe deer. After this, the animals will leave the area through natural migration.
According to the regional Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Udmurtia Denis Udalov, quoted by the Susanin news agency, encounters with wild animals are increasingly being recorded on the roads. He recalled the importance of observing speed limits, especially within the boundaries of special road signs. Thus, mesh fencing will be installed on the M-7 federal highway at the entrance to Izhevsk and Perm and on the 2nd km of the Igra-Glazov road. On December 18, 2023, it was reported that a school bus collided with a roe deer in the Kirov district of Omsk. As a result of the accident, the animal died. At the time of the incident, there were 29 children in the cabin; they were being taken to the Bolsherechensky Zoo. Apart from the roe deer, no one was injured in the accident.
In the Smolensk region, back in 2019, animal barriers were installed along the highways on several sections of the M-1 highway. Protective nets prevent animals from entering the roadway.
